Every inspection from pressure vessels and cranes to lifts and escalators demands deep technical knowledge, strict compliance, and zero room for error.

Becoming an Authorised Examiner (AE) — the industry’s gold standard — takes years of experience, regulatory mastery, and rigorous training. Few make it, yet demand for skilled professionals continues to grow.

At Emaan Inspection, we’re committed to grooming future engineering leaders through internships, mentoring them with real-world projects, and hands-on exposure.

One such talent is Muhammad Firdaus, an NTU Mechanical Engineering undergraduate, who joined Emaan to gain experience as an intern and pursue his goal of becoming an AE, inspired by his family of engineers and his passion for innovation and safety.

Why Emaan Inspection

For Firdaus, joining Emaan Inspection was more than just securing an internship but it was a deliberate step toward his dream of becoming an Authorized Examiner (AE).

“I chose to intern at Emaan Inspection because I want to become an AE in the future. Emaan gave me the perfect opportunity to learn from experienced engineers and AEs and see what the job really involves.”

From day one, Firdaus noticed something unique about the company’s culture: a collaborative team, supportive mentors, and a shared dedication to safety and precision.

“The team was welcoming and supportive. Seeing how inspectors, engineers, and AEs collaborated and shared their knowledge reinforced my excitement to be part of such a skilled and dedicated group.”

Hands-On Learning in Real Engineering Environments

During his internship, Firdaus was exposed to real-world inspection challenges, from safety checks to compliance processes across various engineering systems.

Some highlights include:

Assisting in pressure vessel inspections, including hydrostatic testing, visual defect checks, and pressure safety valve assessments.

Supporting workflow development for MOM registrations, fabrication documentation, and testing procedures.

Participating in lift inspections, performing no-load and full-load tests to verify safety and performance.

Observing tower crane inspections, assisting engineers in pre-installation safety checks before assembly.

“Every project taught me something new, from understanding safety margins in pressure vessels to the critical details that go into lift and crane inspections. Seeing these processes up close helped me connect theory to practice.”

Developing Technical Expertise and Soft Skills

Firdaus’ internship wasn’t just about technical exposure but it was also about growing as a professional. Beyond gaining hands-on experience with ASME regulations, MOM compliance, and technical documentation, Firdaus sharpened his presentation and communication skills through mentorship and real client interactions.

One key moment came when he delivered his first technical presentation. Guided by his mentor, Mr Juffri, Firdaus learned to structure his presentation like a story establishing why the information matters, presenting data with clarity, and summarizing key actions effectively.

Learning the Real Meaning of Engineering Safety

Firdaus’ most important takeaway was understanding the impact of safety, inspection, and compliance in engineering.

“This internship showed me that safety isn’t just about ticking boxes; every document, every test, and every inspection matters because lives depend on it. I saw how small mistakes in pressure vessel tests or material checks could lead to big accidents later.”

By observing engineers and AEs at Emaan, Firdaus learned the importance of attention to detail, proper documentation, and prioritizing safety above all else. This clarity has strengthened his resolve to pursue his goal of becoming an AE, knowing the responsibility goes beyond technical expertise — it’s about protecting lives.

Mentorship That Inspires Growth

Emaan’s structured mentorship approach played a huge role in shaping Firdaus’ experience. From technical guidance during inspections to professional coaching in client engagements, he credits the team for accelerating his growth.

“At Emaan, I’ve received structured technical training and personalized mentorship that boosted my confidence and skills. Weekly training sessions, field inspections, and one-on-one guidance helped me see how the best engineers approach their work.”

This culture of collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and hands-on coaching is what sets Emaan apart as a training ground for aspiring engineers.

A Message to Future Interns

Firdaus encourages other engineering students to seek out environments that challenge and teach:

“Look for mentors, not just managers. The best opportunities pair you with professionals who want to share their expertise. At Emaan, I didn’t just learn what to do — I learned why each step matters.”

His journey shows how Emaan’s internship programme creates a meaningful learning experience where interns are trusted contributors, not just observers.

Join Emaan Inspection as an Intern

At Emaan Inspection, we’re committed to growing the next generation of engineering leaders.
